Free and Open Source Software Support in India

As part of encouragement to Free and Open source software in India, C-DAC has developed EduBOSS. EduBOSS is a variant of BOSS. It is based on Debian Linux distribution. It will come preloaded with educational software developed at C-DAC Chennai. BOSS stands for Bharat Operating System Solutions. BOSS was funded by Department of Information Technology, India.
It is a open-source software. Anyone can distribute and modify it. It will be officially launched on Children's Day - 14 Nov. EduBOSS is already running as a pilot project in Kerala through IT@School program.

The Project aim is to encourage use of Free and Open Source software, so that students when reach to industry, feel comfortable in Open source software use.
