When you think of purchasing Tablets PC then many things will come into mind. OS, Manufacturers, Version of OS etc. Which one is more important for you and which one is not. It all depends on your use case. How are you going to use it. Tablet PC is limited version of your Laptop or Desktop. So, decide how are you going to use your Tablet PC before you decide to buy Tablet PC. Here are few points I thought to share with you:
As tables are used very close to eye compared to Laptop or PC, so resolution is needed higher than those. When you compare resolution of many tablets then you will find 1024 * 768 is most commonly available. But size will be different. Some with 7 inches display and some with 10 inches display, both tells about the same resolution. Which one will show you better text and photos based on resolution factor (brightness, viewing angles also matter here)? 7 inches Tablets with 1024 * 768 resolution stands much better than 10 inches with 1024 * 768 resolution.
Use this formula to calculate ppi, I got it from a flipkart review:
sqrt(1024^2+768^2)/8 = 160 ppi
130 ppi is ok-ok. 160 ppi is good for reading text etc. 1024 is width, 768 is height. 8 is display size mentioned in specification in inches.
Weight is important. It is more important than in Laptop. As most of time you may be holding tablets in hand so weight is important. You cannot hold even 500 gm easily for long.
Screen Size -
7 inches or 10 inches! There are more variants of screen size but these two are considered more in comparison than everything else. 7 inches are small and 10 inches are big at other end. As I read at many places, I have found that 7 inches are better for everything except Web Browsing. So, if you are looking for reading web pages then 10 inches are good. 8 and 9 inches are in middle. Check weight as well.
How easily your tablet PC heat up when used. Holding hot object and that also carefully is not that easy and healthy for long. On Laptop, you may use your finger for swiping. While using Tablet PC, you will hold the Tablet from one hand for long and another hand for typing or swiping on the screen.
Other many factors that comes into mind when buying Tablets PC are already very highlighted everywhere. Wherever you see specification, you will see CPU and RAM and that is rightly so.
CPU of 1GHz and RAM of 1GB is good enough for Tablet. There are plenty of Tablets with this specification. Screen brightness and text visibility is also very important as you buy Tablets for ease of use in reading on bed etc. You do not use Tablets for software development job. For many who spend time on video chatting, camera is also a big factor.
If you are buying it specifically for Games then also check for various sensors (g-sensor/accelerometer).
Internal memory is also important as many application does not go inside SD card.
Mostly you are going to use Wi-Fi then dongle support is not that important!
I have written this article to highlight the point that it is not just CPU and RAM that is needed. Mostly people give too much concern on CPU. They think with faster CPU, they can do anything. You cannot enjoy reading when display is not good enough. You are not going to use tablets for Photoshop work. So, think of other thing highlighted above.
Something else as well but not that essential:
Display features - IPS Vs PLS :- Both are used to increase viewing angle, good color from all angles, and good response time. IPS is generally manufactured by LG and PLS is Samsung developed technology.
Thanks for reading and if it helps you then please share.
